Introducing Real-World Traffic Data for Simulation

While we’ve been supplying static/map layers for simulation environments for quite a few years, this is a new one for atlatec: We’re now able to capture moving agents (aka other cars, cyclists and pedestrians) and bring this data to simulation environments as well! Check out this video, showing the real world camera feed and a frame-by-frame comparison of the result in IPG CarMaker:

Our reasoning behind this move is the same as for creating digital twins of actual road data: If you are developing/validating a system for use in real life, you have to optimize it for real life – bringing the real world into your simulation environment gets you a lot further before you have to leave the virtual environment.

As a business developer, I'm a "matchmaker" between atlatec's HD map/scenario portfolio and the needs of automotive and mobility companies in ADAS and AVs. I try to keep on top of market and technology trends and enjoy sharing with other industry stakeholders.
